Friday 18th July 2003 76km (96km) Day 2 of 77
Rose early in the morning and hiked down to the southern most point of mainland Australia then dashed back to Tidal River. Wasted the latter part of the afternoon stuffing down chicken burgers and fixing/packing the bikes. Didn't get away from the Prom until dusk and cycled until 2am through bitter cold and rain. Slept under small shelter next to the public toilets in Meenian.
Saturday 19th July 2003 155km (251km) Day 3 of 77
Faced a very hilly 30km section to Korrumburra where we ate a much needed brunch at Kelly's Bakery. Pushed on to Melboure the remaining 150km and arrived in the city at 8pm. Slept well.

Tuesday 22nd July 2003 46km (297km) Day 6 of 77
Departed Melbourne at 10:30am and were confronted with a very strong head wind and an uphill battle for the first 40km out of Melbourne. Moral was quite low as the slow speeds with the new trailers gave us doubts about 5300km through the outback. Stopped cycling at dusk and set up camp in a pine forest off the side of the road, just south of Romsey.
